What Doesn't Kill You...

Lance Corporal Steve Haisley, USMC (Retired)

​

PFC Steve Haisley of Hotel Company, BLT 2/26, was severely wounded on LZ Margo, medevaced out on the first desperately overloaded chopper, spent six months in the hospital and was medically retired from the Marine Corps.

​

Steve's left arm was nearly severed. Despite that, he went on to become one of the first police officers in the nation hired after a devastating combat injury and served with his force for 37 years. Steve also survived cancer caused by exposure to Agent Orange.

​

He often delivers motivational talks to students, sharing the view of someone who walked through the valley of the shadow of death, was brushed by Death's wings, but who survived to treasure each  moment of a full life.
