LZ Margo and the DMZ (continued)
DMZ Rats

Months later Major Lynch again met with Col. Barrow, who by this time was the operations officer for III Marine Amphibious Force in Danang. It was the first of many times that he would encounter Colonel Barrow -- later General Barrow, the 27th Commandant of the Marine Corps -- over the years.
And each time they talked about LZ Margo.

But this first time they met after the DMZ operation, Col. Barrow approached a group that included Major Lynch, looked at him, reached out and shook his hand, and said, "You're one of my DMZ rats, aren't you?"

He was indeed, and so were we.
And a badge of honor it will always be.
