I agree with Larry Steve. Bob Arrotta, a friend from my days on 881S with India 3/26. Told me some me back that he kept photos of that hill and Khe Sanh in his office not for people to see that he was there, but for people to know that Marines were there and elsewhere throughout history.

Happy you are still here Steve. Some memories from Nam are clear, but none more so than Margo. Think of you every time I break out the iron. Thankful that I had a chance to meet you in Detroit and hear your story. Take care. Semper Fi Brother

Well said Steve and Larry. I was fortunate to come out of Margo physically with only a hearing loss. It took me years, though, to realize my jangled nerves and short temper, especially at this time of year, were the result of PTSD and survivor guilt. It's not an exaggeration to say that I think of Vietnam and Margo every day especially the lives lost there. I think of my friend Dominic (nose) Pollastro, one of those lost at the water point, and wonder what his life would have been like. I have also been told that I need to put Vietnam behind me, but doing that would mean putting Dominick (and friends lost on 881S at Khe Sanh) behind me. And that I cannot do.

Well said Steve. I think we all feel the burden of trying to be better men because of those we knew who never got the chance for a full life. You should be proud of what you have done and what you continue to do through your speaking engagements. Semper Fi

Well said Steve. For sometime after getting home I didn't sleep, I passed out. It's been a long road to where we are today. My wife has helped me a lot, but she has the misfortune of having her birthday on September 18. It has made for some interesting experiences. As Larry said above, we are, each of us, doing better today. One foot in front of the other brother. Semper Fi

Steve, for me, the person I always remember from Margo is Dominic Pollastro (aka Nose). He took some canteens down to the water point for a couple of us and died there.

Like Alan, we've been taking some road trips with grandkids. Attended Grandparents University at Michigan State University with our grand son (11). Two of the requirements are to attend classes with your grandchild and to stay in the dorm for the four day session. We also took him to see the USS Alabama and the USS Drum in Mobile Alabama (he's crazy about the Navy for some reason). Other than that, we have been getting in some beach time here in Charleston.
