I was an eighteen (18) year old PFC, 0311, when I was assigned to 3rd Platoon, later the 2nd Platoon of Echo Company the week before Christmas in December of 1967. By the time of LZ Margo I had turned nineteen (19) years old and had been 'in country' for an eventful--but NOT a fun filled--nine (9) months.
